Michael Rossi

Michael Rossi earned his PhD in Political Science at Rutgers University, and has taught Graduate and Undergraduate courses in Political Science for more than twenty years Rutgers, the College of New Jersey, Rowan University, Long Island University Brooklyn, Fordham University, and most recently at Webster University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. His teaching specialties are in the subfields of Comparative Politics and International Relations, with particular focus on the relationship between culture and politics, globalization, and transitions from authoritarian government. His research interests are primarily centered on the countries and regions of the former Yugoslavia, but have also done work on Central Europe, and the countries the former Soviet Union. Dr. Rossi has published on models to conflict resolution in Kosovo that consider the additional obstacles of its disputed status as a sovereign state. He has also published articles on cultural approaches to democratic collective identity in Serbia, and national populism throughout post-Communist Eastern Europe. More recently, Dr. Rossi has ventured into the field of public scholarship that aims to offer University-level educational material to a wider public audience interested in continuing education. He maintains a YouTube channel “Michael Rossi Poli Sci” with a growing audience of more than 35,000 subscribers. Prof. Rossi serves as the director of the public scholarship program at the BIEE.
